Henlopen Hotel
Positives
The hotel is locate at the beach. This makes it easy to walk there. You do not need cart to carry stuff etc. Umbrellas are available to rent but in 2025 the cost is now $20!!! 10-15 minutes walk to the boardwalk and also cafes and restaurants. There is a lake close by and it's good for walking dogs or even to go and sit on a nice day. Hotel is quieter as it is towards the end of the beach and not much traffic.
Negatives
There are several.
Parking is horrendous. They do not have enough parking to provide for all hotel guests. If you come back to your room after 10 pm, you will not find parking. Hotel staff would basically tell you to park on the street. This is free at night but you have to remember to re-park somewhere on the morning or start paying fee.
Even if you get parking, the spots are small. If you have any SUV, you will be worried about scratching the car. Several people during our stay complained about parking.
Description on website says "luxury bathroom". There is nothing luxury about it. It is smaller than every hotel bathroom we have had until now. The shower is old and basic. There is barely room to move in the bathroom.
Rooms are dated. Walls are thin and you ca hear people outside pretty clearly. There is almost no table space if you want o make coffee. The coffee maker in our room did not work.
Some service staff were nice, but other were totally disinterested.
The TV does not work most of the time. The channels work sometimes but other times, it says weak signal/no signal.
Overall, very dissatisfied.

The location is good because you're right on the boardwalk and right across the street from the park and a great walking area. The parking is good; but very tight. Check in was good. The woman at the front desk was very friendly and professional. The two room suite is a decent value. Nice beds. 2 nice TV's. Plenty of room. Great shower water pressure. Two balconies. The downfalls are that the air conditioners are very noisy. Much of the time making high pitched whistling sounds or various rumbling sounds that make it hard to sleep through. Also, the sofa and chairs are awful. No support whatsoever and they look and feel like they're 50 years old. I was only comfortable sitting in my car driving to and from the hotel during the stay.

The hotel was terrific. Location is at the end of the boardwalk which is nice as it's quiet. Rooms are great, very clean, and can not hear the room next door. Parking is underground and is free with your hotel stay. Those who complain are not telling the facts. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Fresh linens and towels daily. Amenities for our stay was fine...coffee maker, small frig, and microwave. The beach chairs are $10 for the day and offer sever different types. Our 2nd time there and will definitely return.
